We’re all the main characters in our own story.

Those around us and those we interact with are the “supporting” characters.

We only have a first hand experience when using our own senses so it’s not a ridiculous way to view life.

The problem is when we’re so invested in the narrative of our own autobiography that we fail to give our own failings the recognition they deserve. And give the failings of others more attention than they deserve.

Most people see themselves as the Gryffindors of their story and any opposing character as the Slytherin.

This isn’t a huge issue most of the time. Who cares if you see the DMV teller as the “bad guy.” You won’t have to see him or her for another year or so, if ever.

Where this becomes a problem is when you make a villain of someone with a more prominent presence in your life.

They were fertilizer and instead of growing something beautiful with their properties, you tweaked their intentions enough to make a bomb.

Some villains we make.
